March 27, 2020: Prayer
We are each finding ourselves in a time of uncertainty and rapid adaptation to physical distancing. You are not alone if you are finding this all to be profoundly stressful, even if you are finding ways to keep your head up and managing despite this stress. Prayer can be a place to take this stress and to receive encouragement for the day, and to connect with the God who knows you and loves you just as you are. Parker Palmer writes in “Let Your Life Speak” that “The God whom I know dwells quietly in the root system of the very nature of things (p.51)”. Might this be a time for you to connect in a new way with this God who has eternally and forever connected to you through Jesus’ death and resurrection? Here is a prayer that we can offer in trust that God is accompanying each step we take as we move forward in distancing, in this time.
“Holy and Loving God, I trust that you are with me. I trust that you are with those I love. I do not always understand what is happening in the world, and I don’t always feel confident about my place in it. Speak your love and presence into my life in such a way that I may recognize your love working in me. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear how you are present in those around me. In all things, open my heart to experience and trust you in all things. In your name I pray, amen.”
